Short summary
Germany considers crystalline rock a potential host rock for the disposal of high-level radioactive waste. To assess the integrity of the geological barrier considered in a fractured crystalline rock, the fluid pressure and dilatancy criteria are satisfied. The project proposes a fracture continuum approach using a ubiquitous-joint model. Small-scale analyses capture the influence of fracture orientations on the rock behaviour well through the reproduced typical anisotropic strength curves.
