Short summary
One of the objectives of the Federal Company for Radioactive Waste Disposal (BGE) is to achieve climate-neutral operations. Mines and the associated backfilling measures and materials have a major impact on the CO2 footprint. Therefore, BGE TECHNOLOGY GmbH was commissioned to develop backfill materials with the lowest possible CO2 footprint. This work contains the evaluation of supply chains, as well as the development of a magnesia binder with natural brucite instead of magnesium oxide.
