EMOS is a mobile inspection unit that remotely and automatically records the entire surface of the drum, including lid and bottom, optically, evaluates it analytically and both stores it electronically and outputs the results in the form of an inspection report. In this way, recurring inspections of the drum stock can be completed under the same inspection conditions each time.

At the Institute for Technology and Management in Construction (
KIT-TMB), the focus is on the development of an automated solution for the (clearance) measurement of near-surface contaminations. A mobile elevating working platform is used as robot platform with a contamination array as tool. The array measures the surface activity on the wall areas and verifies compliance with the thresholds. The contamination array is based on two sensor concepts: measurement and localization.

SHARE project intends to provide an inclusive roadmap for decommissioning research, in technical and non-technical areas, enabling stakeholders to jointly improve safety, reduce costs and minimise environmental impact in the decommissioning of nuclear facilities. It is based on a broad analysis of stakeholder needs including R&D, R&I, education, training, regulations, legislation, project management, costing and standardisation among others.
