Short summary
The decommissioning of nuclear power plants needs the development of innovative cutting tools to improve safety, radiation protection, waste management, time and cost aspects. Laser cutting technology is considered as a promising alternative for the segmentation of nuclear power reactors. LD-SAFE aims to demonstrate that the laser cutting technique applied to dismantling allows meeting technical and safety challenges in a more efficient and economical way than conventional cutting techniques.
